To awaken an animal, the animal must win a contest of wills. The master or owner decides when to attempt to awaken the animal, but the animal must have enough advancement picks to acquire this ability. |

Normally, an animal acts only on instinct or on commands from its master. This ability allows an animal companion to act independently and receive orders similar to a PC. This ability cannot be retried. The the animal fails the Contest of Wills, it can never be awakened. |
